Ellingham & Ringwood U15 girls opened their campaign with a conclusive and hard fought win in an 8 a side game against a strong Dorchester side today.
After coming under early pressure, Ellingham managed to turn over possession and through some strong forward play, followed by excellent handling, got the ball out to Thea on the wing who outstripped the defence for the first score. The captain, Alicia 'stumpy' Maude added the extra 2 points with the drop kick conversion. Another converted try swiftly followed, before Dorchester rallied before the interval with an unconverted score of their own. However the Ellingham girls were not to be denied and took complete control of the game after the break, out scoring Dorchester by a further 5 tries to 1.
In the end the final score was Dorchester 10 - Ellingham & Ringwood 41, demonstrating the overall superiority of the Ellingham girls throughout the match.
A special mention goes to Thea for scoring 4 of the tries and to Mollie & Georgia (who scored on her debut.
Well done to all the players and thank you to all the parents who travelled and supported the players on what was a lovely sunny day.
Pete, Colin and Andy.
