A frosty pitch and chilly conditions on Sunday prevented a full 15 a side game being played, so both sides agreed to utilise half the pitch at Poulner School and play 7's with rolling substitutions.
In a game of 4 halves, all players were utilised and able to get a run out.
The E's started well, continued to play well and finished well, running in an amazing total of 21 tries against 2 from Overton.
Despite Ellingham's dominance of the whole game, Overton, to their credit, kept coming forward and never gave up looking for more tries, their players being a credit to their Club and to their Manager.
That said, our Under 14's were in impressive form, being strong in the scrum, being hungry at the rucks and all players generally wanting to take the ball across the touchline.
Try scorers were "Hey" Jude Chiari, James "Jinky" Jenkins, Andre "The Caveman" Camilleri, Louis "The Stuntman Harling, Gabriel "The Angel" Almeida and Ed "General" Patton.
Double try scorers were Kyle "The Bouncer" McGhee and Adam "The Pharoah" Kalim.
Hat Trick try scorers were Oli "Shorty" Johnson and Aaron "The VIking" Moritzen.
The biggest try scorer of the day however was Owen "The Exocet" Dingle running in an amazing 5 tries!! Owen's Dad Stuart had a tear in his eye; It could have been because of the emotion of his son scoring an amazing array of tries from different positions or just the fact that he was still at Air Traffic Control trying to fix the computer and he had lost his electrical screwdriver........ we will never know for sure!
All in all it was quite a day for the whole squad. Because of the large number of substitutions the boys had to adapt very quickly to changes in both players and style of play, but they all coped very well and can be proud of their efforts; Scoring 105 points/21 tries in any match is no mean feat so well done to all of them.
Well Done's also to the other squad members, who although not scoring tries themselves, pushed hard and provided openings to the others. A huge amount of effort was put in by Josh Forster, Carl Jenkins, Ben Mortimore, Roger Frederick and Aiden Hughes.
Keep it up guys ......... there is still more to come!!
