Our whole team should be rightly proud of this achievement today. They came of age as rugby players, delivering a whole game-long effort for each other.
From the first minute we saw fantastic running in support of the ball-carrier with controlled, competitive, and aggressive rucking from the whole team. Josh took an immediate initiative with the pick-and-go leading to the first try of many; further tries scored by Josh, Jamie, Tommy, Zach, and Harrison The Beast. Five conversions from Oscar topped-off the scoring (much easier once he was less than 40m from the posts!).
Man of the match Zach made several tackles on the opposing scrum half, giving him absolutely no time to think all game long, providing a great platform for our defensive line which was kept in line nicely by Cameron, who didn’t miss a pass all afternoon.
Ben scooped up some great ball in the full-back position and Lewi was involved in every breakdown until he came off with an injury. The lads did a great job of adapting to new positions after the departures: Elliot came off the flank to be a highly effective outside centre on the shoulder of Jamie ‘The Fury’ Tunnicliff and Isaac backed up a great first half on the wing with a commanding stint at 15 in the second half.
The forwards displayed such positive ball-carries… metres made every time by Dan, Charlie H, Josh, Tommy in particular, with Harry doing the same mixed in with some lovely late passes and a couple of well-placed kicks.
We were in attack for much of the game, but when it was needed the defence was brilliant. Loads of tackling (didn’t see a missed tackle), and special mention for Charlie F who apart from a couple of lightning runs up the wing put in an epic try-saving tackle after a long chase to protect our clean sheet.
Well done boys, we're proud of you all
