About us
The Under 16 level, sees the introduction of the 15 a-side game and positional play. Like the U14s, this is a two year age group (school years 10 & 11) and our focus is on reinforcing the fundamental skills of rugby - passing, running with the ball, tackling and contesting possession at the breakdown via rucking and mauling. We also teach the girls how to perform 8-man scrums and uncontested lineouts.
Our club has an excellent, long standing, reputation for women and girls rugby. We are a hub for girls rugby within the New Forest, working closely with Hampshire RFU and local secondary schools. This provides opportunities for girls to experience contact rugby within the school PE lessons and school based extra-curricular programmes. Our incentive scheme rewards players, who transition from the 'All Schools Programme' to club based rugby, with high quality training kit.
Our experienced, RFU qualified, coaches are committed to ensuring an 'inclusive approach' to training and matches. We adapt and differentiate activities to ensure that girls gain confidence, make rapid progress and continue to be challenged within every session. In addition to numerous friendly fixtures and tournaments, we also enter the girls into the National RFU Cup competition, which is a regional pool and knock-out format. Fixtures are usually played on a Sunday afternoon.
